We're back from our trip in Vietnam. It was amazing, but too short !
I'm happy I choose a local agency (Vietnam Adventure) to organize our trip. It was really fun and full of surprises. We were just the two of us with guides and a driver, and we spent most of our time away from tourist's places. We met so many friendly people. We even went to a Muong wedding !
Here are some sketches.

Nous sommes de retour du Vietnam. C'était génial, mais trop court !
Je suis ravie d'avoir choisi une agence locale (Vietnam Aventure) pour organiser notre voyage. C'était vraiment bien et plein d'imprévus. Nous avions des guides et un chauffeur pour nous tout seuls ! Et nous avons passé la plupart de notre temps loin des trucs à touristes. Nous avons rencontré plein de gens sympas et nous avons même été invités à un mariage Muong !

Before Le Tour

Yesterday I went hiking to Le Col de la Colombiere where I often go. But this time it was almost impossible to park the car because it was crowded by motor caravans. People were there to be sure not to miss Le Tour de France !
I still did a beautiful hiking with mountain animals and flowers.

Hier je suis allée au Col de la Colombière où je randonne souvent. Mais une mauvaise surprise nous attendait : le col était bondé à cause de camping-cars attendant (avec trois jours d'avance) le Tour de France ! Bon, heureusement, ça ne m'a pas empêché de faire une très belle rando avec plein d'animaux et de fleurs des montagnes.

Two weeks ago, I did some hike in the Bauges Mountains (less than one hour by car) with Bann and Ben. Spring is my favourite moment to hike in the mountains because there is more flowers and less people. ^_^

Il y a deux semaines, avec Bann et Ben, nous avons fait une rando dans les Bauges. C'était super beau. J'adore cette période de l'année pour randonner, car il y a plus de fleurs, et moins de randonneurs. ^_^

Some weeks ago we went to the Puteaux Comic Book Festival, as guests. We met old and new friends there. It was an interesting festival. They took us to have diner, on a bateau-mouche, in Paris by night. I wouldn't have done that sort of tourist activity by myself, but in the end it appeared to be fun and beautiful to cruise on La Seine river. Here are some pictures the tourist part of my brain made me take.

Le week-end du 16 mai, nous étions invités au festival de BD de Puteaux. c'était un chouette festival. En plus de retrouver des copains et de s'en faire de nouveaux, nous avons ainsi pu profiter d'un dîner en bateau-mouche la nuit, dans Paris. ça fait très truc pour touristes et je crois que je n'aurais jamais fait ça de moi-même, mais au final, c'était très beau et très sympa. Voici donc quelques unes de mes photos de touriste.

I took this (blurry) picture from my window, using my cheap bird watch telescope and a small camera.

J'ai pris cette photo (floue) en utilisant ma longue-vue ornitho et un vieux compact numérique.

I'm late, but I want to share with you pictures of the cake my mother cooked for my birthday this year. Once again, it was beautiful and tasty. She used a lot of chocolate and almonds to cook it.

I'm done ! I'm so happy ! Titoss and Ilda volume 2 is on his way to be printed. It's the comic book serie about pirates for young children, that Bann draws. And I do the colors. But for that second book, we had a difficult deadline, so it was really tiring.
It's a comic book without text so everybody can read it. ^_^

J'ai fini, youpi ! J'ai enfin terminé les couleurs de Titoss et Ilda tome 2. C'est la série sur les pirates pour les petits que dessine Banni. Pour ce tome 2, nous avions des délais très courts à respecter, alors c'était vraiment la course. Mais enfin, c'est fait !

Nouveau venu

There's a new creature at home, and everybody wants to meet him. He's the Melancholy Monster, and for a few minutes, he is distracted from his melancholy (but not for long, of course !).
Thank you Bann, for this adorable present. And thank you art_lurker for creating it. Don't hesitate to go see all her other creatures.

/ Une nouvelle petite créature venait d'arriver à la maison, et tout le monde voulait voir ça de ses yeux. Il s'agissait du Monstre de la Mélancolie, qui devant tant d'attention, en oublia un instant d'être mélancolique (pas trop longtemps, quand même).
Merci Banni pour cet adorable cadeau. Et merci art_lurker de l'avoir créé. N'hésitez pas à aller voir ses autres créations.

Here are some pictures of Christmas we spent at my grandmother's home, in the country. This year again, I decorated the Christmas tree and the room.
By the way, the Christmas cake was cooked by my aunt Dominique.

I decided to draw a bird every day (I'm really not sure I will be able to do that a long time, but I'll try). So I started a new livejournal. I'll keep updating that one as usual but you'll find my "daily" birds on onedayonebird . Please come visit and support me ! ^_^

J'ai décidé de dessiner un oiseau chaque jour (je ne sais pas combien de temps j'arriverai à tenir, mais je vais essayer de faire le maximum). J'ai donc débuté un nouveau livejournal. San Diego Comic Con

We went to San Diego Comic Con for our first time ! I'm happy that it is also the first time I have written a short story for Flight ("Two Kids", in Flight n°5, I've chosen my mother's name as my pen name. Bann did the drawings, and Steve did the colors. They did a fantastic job, as usual. ).
The Comic Con was huge, with so many talented people. It was really different from Angouleme. We spent a wonderful time on Flight booth, especially thanks to Amy and her mother who were so thoughtful. We were so happy to meet everybody.

Here is a sketch of Bannister taking a nap before the beginning of the con, and sketches of some of the con visitors.

Nous avons enfin pu aller au festival de BD de San Diego pour la première fois. Et j'étais d'autant plus contente que ça coincidait avec la première histoire que j'ai écrite pour Flight (dans le Flight n°5, "Two Kids". Banni a fait les dessins et Steve les couleurs. Ils ont fait un super boulot, comme c'est leur habitude.). Le festival est gigantesque, et très différent d'Angoulême. Il y beaucoup d'espace consacré aussi aux séries TV et au ciné. J'ai même pu assister à une conférence avec les acteurs de Heroes ! L'ambiance sur le stand de Flight était super, en particulier grâce à Amy et sa mère qui étaient très prévenantes.

Sur les croquis, Bannister avant l'ouverture du festival, et divers festivaliers.

This is the last picture I took in United States (a rainbow over New York, seen from Newark airport). It's a good symbol of our trip there, colored and fascinating.
A huge "thank you" to those who welcomed us from New York to Los Angeles : Dave and Raina, Pascal and Katrina, Dik, Alison and her dad Jeffrey, and Kazu and Amy !
And thanks a lot to all our friends who made this trip unforgettable : Ryan, Louis, Ted, Bill and Ikumi, Vincent, Marion, Mike, Zack and Steph, JP and Marjaana, Phil, Tony, Kean, Rodolphe, Johan, Regis, Chris, and all the others I forget to mention because my brain is in a total chaos after two days of plane.

The Sketchcrawl during the Annecy Animated Film Festival was really fun. I did sketches in black and white with a brushpen, and with a ballpen, and two sketches in color with a waterbrush and watercolor. I really wanted to force myself to do some in colors with the waterbrush. But it's really difficult for me to use it and to do it quicky. I'm not able to blend the colors like I would like, and I'm not satisfied by the result. But you cannot improve anything without work.

Le Sketchcrawl pendant le festival d'Annecy a été très amusant. J'ai fait quelques croquis en noir et blanc au stylo bille et au feutre pinceau. Et puis, j'en ai faits deux en couleur, en utilisant mon waterbrush et de l'aquarelle. Mais j'ai encore du mal avec cette technique, surtout quand j'essaie d'aller vite. Je n'arrive pas à mélanger les couleurs et je suis déçue du résultat. Enfin bon, il faut travailler pour s'améliorer.

Those are "swan eggs". Not real eggs, of course, but a pastry created by the baker of "Le Pere Bise", a famous restaurant in Talloires a village near Annecy's lake. My family came to visit us this week. We went to Talloires, and when we saw those eggs we absolutely wanted to taste some. It's quite good : white chocolate topping, vanilla mousse, a really small piece of sponge cake, lemon zests and strawberries marmelade.
I want one more !

Voilà des "oeufs de cygne". Pas des vrais, mais une pâtisserie créée par le chef pâtissier du Père Bise, le restaurant chic, à Talloires, près d'Annecy. Ma famile est venu nous rendre visite cette semaine. Nous sommes allées en ballade à Talloires, et en voyant ces beaux gâteaux, nous n'avons pu résister à l'envie de les goûter.
C'est plutôt bon : une mousse à la vanille recouverte d'une fine couche de chocolat blanc, un petit coeur de génoise, avec des zestes de citron et une marmelade de fraises.
